King Leopold's Ghost: A Story of Greed, Terror, and Heroism in Colonial Africa by Adam HochschildMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
I think my biggest takeaway from this book is how difficult it is to stop the machinery and industry of human exploitation and genocide once it's taken off. This guy only lived a century before us and his legacy continues to haunt the Congo to the present day, and he never even set foot in it ONCE. F*** King Leopold (and everyone who enabled him).
